A Knight’s Adventure: The Crusade

A Knight’s Adventure 3:

The Crusades

Thirst Quenching Plan

3 years has passed since the battle at Lord Quincy’s castle and Geocom’s land thrived under his presence. Peace held and his part in defending Lord Quincy’s Castle made him famous. Within the three years, his land had become a boomtown. Thriving with goods from merchants and traders the town quickly advanced with technology and arts. A new style in which people dressed changed so often that he himself began to disregard the new fashions, sticking to wearing a white silk shirt, a decorated chest armor, a cape, and leather pants

Other knights somehow kept up with the new fashions, one day wearing string tied pointed shoes, other times with platform shoes, the next day barefoot, and then, well you get the idea. But now, unlike Geocom, his men felt they had become rusty in their fighting skills, so they became blood thirsty. There was only one solution. Join the Tectonic Knights. (No Ms. Hickey and all teachers who read this not the Teutonic knights) A Holy crusade will do well for his blood thirsty men, though the risks were high, it was better than to be causing a rebellion. At times that were prospering he did not want to cut it off so quickly. To gain power he must first gain the support and respect of all of his citizens as well as all the merchants and traders who came in and out of this city. To gain wealth, traders and merchants were required to give the guards an item as entry fee then were to be inspected. All these items were then piled up in a cart then sent to him. These items were, gold vases, bags of gold, gems, wine, baskets, tools, porcelain, and other wares brought by the entrepreneurs.  Sometimes the traders offered foods like Beef, quail eggs, and other delicacies which were to be brought immediately to his castle. This way depending on the amount of income from these fees the taxing would be raised and lowered accordingly. Citizens who heard of the daily changing taxes (always lower than most towns) came in caravans, and other types of transportation to live a wealthy life. Baron Har where Geocom’s land was placed in even built his Pleasure Pal… Err Vacation House there. The sudden increase and concentration in Geocom’s land and the drain in other lands outside of Baron Har’s land was very noticeable. And on the month of March he gathered enough troops to go on a crusade and join the Tectonic Knights.

The Tectonic Knights

When joining, his army and many others joined together and like the teutonic knights used the Prussians for training. The inexperienced group’s battle was hard fought and many died. But, those who survived joined a new group of soldiers. One with the same rank, over and over again they attacked cities and castles. Those surviving became a higher member of the order. Then, at last they would reach the top. But on the last test, the knights who fought valiantly and well would get into the top group. This was Geocom, his knights unable to reach the legendary status were elites who served him and him only. But by then there were only 90 left. So going around the other Tectonic Knights he was able to form an army in which he continued to clash with the soldiers and gain more land for the king and to baptize the citizens of other religions. But, the main reason was to capture the holy city Jerusalem. This sacred city was in control of the misleading barbarian beasts that believed in the fake god. They were called Moslems, filthy, poor, and barbaric Moslems. (Ok to all who read this, this was the view of the Christians during the age of the Medieval Times, no offense.) Every single day, we trained for the war. We would be outnumbered and weak because of our journey, so we had to be sure that even at our weakest we could crush them. We destroyed many unbelievers and gained many converts. The glory of Christianity was rising! Then we arrived at the great city walls of Jerusalem.

Quest for glory: The Holy City Jerusalem

Soldiers charged forward, meeting the Moslems, but unexpectedly they were more organized than we had thought. Coming forward in ranks, they screamed their bloody phony god’s name. Our armies met like monsters. Destroying each other, with an unholy hellish ferocity. But, it was clear that we were losing. Our trebuchets were not firing enough, the ballistae were breaking down. Our troops tiring, from what we thought was going to be an easy battle. This was not going well, sending horses that pulled carts carrying leaking oil, the Moslems set them on fire burning the prairie grass and Tectonic knights. The Moslem army which had withdrawn charged back into the scene and slaughtered the remains of our army. What was left of us escaped with just our lives, our pride and glory stripped from us.

Kidnap

To get to King Hammon’s kingdom quickly he took a route through enemy lands. Travelling with a long cape with a hood, some trader’s clothes, and a sack of food in which he traded for his most prized possession. His Breastplate, in which he wore to all his battles since the beginning of his knighthood. Along with his clothing he also was able to trade in for a horse, a strong one too, it would help travel all the way to his home. If all went well he would get there safely but if not, he could only hope that the money from the merchants who bought his armor would help bribe him out of trouble. For days he was careful staying around talking to villagers as if they were friends. Nobody paid heed to him. But then, he grew more and more worried and started to skip the acts and get to his home quickly. Just as he was close to exiting the last city of the bordering kingdom of King Hammon’s, he heard a shout and then, everything went black.

  4. In the Holy Armies all battles that weren’t part of their main goal were considered practice.
  5. Many Crusades did not work as planned, only a few actually achieved their main goal.
  6. Crusades do not have to be warring, one of the crusades by a king was diplomatic and gained Jerusalem without a war, while 3 crusades before his failed to take it over by force. (Ironic)
  7. Muslims also called Moslems back then were treated as if they were barbarians and viewed with despise.

  17. Some of the new fashions for men included shoes with platforms: wooden circles about 3 inches deep that were used to walk over muddy ground. Also others like the pointy shoe with points so long you had to tie them with string to your ankle.

  19. There are sometimes fees that merchants and traders had to pay aside from bribing the knights
