Inside of a Castle

This is a castle. The castle was a home of a  King and Queen.  The castle usually had a lot of rooms and was home for many servents.  The room showed is the grand hall.  It is a little blurry so I will explain it to you.  The grand hall was the biggest room in the castle.  It showed visitors power and wealth.  The walls were made of stone and there were tapestries hanging from them.  Also, there were benchs for people to sit on because chairs were very expensive.

These are the pictures of a Lord’s house. A lord’s house was called a hovel.  In some parts of europe Lords lived in castles.  A hovel was a multiple floor house. A person could add another floor by taking off the roof and adding the other floor.

A knight could live in practically any house.  In some parts of europe, knights were the children of

lords so they could live in a castle or in a hovel.  These are pictures of a knight living in  a house like the serfs on they have a loft.  A loft was expensive to build.

This is a serf’s house.  It was very dirty and unsanitary.  The people had a cooking fire in the center of the house and there was an animal stable inside so that the animals wouldn’t be stolen or eaten by wild animals.  The door was a hole in the wall with a curtin and windows were holes.  A serf’s family was lucky if they had a loft in their house.
