Speel and the seven swords:

The Pirate Raid

Part1/3

Prologue: The dream

Speel looked around A dark night surrounded him everywhere there were soldiers lying on the floor “where am I” Speel thought “Heh Heh Heh” said a voice “ so you’re the last one standing hm?” Speel turned to the voice and to his horror saw his worst nightmare a group of pirates. He didn’t recognize any of them except for the one in the middle. Back in town there were posts for his head, his name was Theen the mighty pirate

Chapter 1: Desperate needs

Speel knew everyone had used to live happily until one day the feared Pirate of the Seas Theen, raided the kingdom, the people were not ready for the raid because the people always lived in peace. Though there were knights, they were not good enough to defend the kingdom from the Jellyfish shipmates, many soldiers were killed and only a few pirates had been defeated. Among the Jellyfish Shipmates, five were the most feared of them all they were named Smarsch, Ickius, Teak, Jardin, and Theen himself. They fought the battle as if there life depended on their love of fighting and slaying giving them the nickname The Bloodthirsty Cutthroats. Smarsch was the weakest of them all but loved to bully people, he can be recognized by his huge nose and the cross bones tattoo on it. Teat which had a poor sense of smell, was very large and burly but not very smart in a fight. Ickius the most smart and agile of them all made him a good assassin. Jardin the vice cpt. and was the most courageous of them all. Theen the captain who was the most mightiest, heartless, and reckless of them all.

The king had managed to defend against them but his troops grew weary and small in numbers. The king sought his wise wizard for help, but the wizard only said:

When the time is right a hero will be born, it will save this kingdom from its turmoil, it may be a human or just a rat, strong or weak,  fast or slow, knowledgeable or not knowledgeable, tall or small. It will come when the time is right. The number is 7, and then 14.

The king had no Idea what it meant but he had a man write it down. Little did the king know, he would live to see the wonder of this riddle, of course when the time was right.

Chapter 2: The contest

Seven years, seven months, seven days, seven hours, seven minutes, and seven seconds later. The king felt an urge to have young boys sign up for the army, The poster went out and many boys wanted to join, since there were too many of them there was a contest, two could pass one from each subject, magic and knighthood. The knights seemed uncertain about a kid being a warrior or an assistant wiz. Somehow even though the king was uncertain himself, he felt a promise in this contest.

Speel was feeding the farm hens when his friend Garshin came busting through the wheat field, stepping over the carefully planted crops. “There’s a knight contest for kids like us! We enter free no contest fees! Come on Speel we’ve got to go!” said Garshin without trying to hide his excitement, hopping up and down like a bunny. “hold on I got to go plant the corn.” said Speel, he had no want to be a knight and no reason to. “WHAT!!! You don’t want to go?!?!?!” exclaimed the now horrified Garshin. ” Nope.” replied Speel simply with a shrug. Garshin sighed this was going to take a while to convince Speel. “All Speel ever wants to do is farm! Farm! FARM! Where was the fun? Garshin stomped away.

Chapter 3: Becoming a contestant

Speel had finished his daily chores and was in the stables watching the horses when he thought about what Garshin had said. “Wait a minute, I could be a knight?”  Speel got out his pack and jumped on Tadius his horse that his Pa had given him as a baby. The two had been with each other, playing tag when they got a chance, Tadius nipped at Speel lightly and Speel would try to tag Tadius back ( he usually failed but had lots of fun ). Speel rode to Garshin’s house, but on the way he saw a poster and took it, this was all he needed to convince his parents.

At night, Garshin was packing in his room as he thought” If Speel doesn’t come fine by me that means one less opponent to go to become a knight.” he had packed all his savings, a week worth of clothes and a small dagger his dad had bought him just in case. Then, he took out a parchment of paper and sat down, carefully writing a letter to his parents explaining why he had left. Finishing, he placed the letter in his parents room and left the house.

Chapter 4: Convincing the parents

“MOM! I need to become a knight! It would help us, we could finally have good food.” said Speel ” I don’t care if we get food I would rather suffer than have my son die in this war!” his mom yelled. “Mom! we’re soon gonna die anyway! I’d rather die honorably than die suffering in regret! His mom went silent, she knew this was true so she said one last word,” go.”

At the contest Speel saw Garshin he had a knife strapped to his waist, his eyes held determination. There was a pack on his back that seemed very lightweight and good for carrying stuff. Speel looked at himself and realized how weak he looked he had a small pack with a slingshot he made, and a pouch on his waist full of stones. He thought looking at the armory ” I need to get a good sword and shield or at least a dagger.” and headed towards the armory. He noticed how small the entrance was, he sighed and thought, ” I guess I’ll have to crawl.”

Chapter 5: the armory of discounts

Speel crawled into the armory and awed at the spectacular swords, one broad and knightly, another curved and wicked, and other countless different designs. He saw different shields a round small one, a medium sized triangular one. There were daggers, maces and other assorted items.

“Ah! A customer! Hello young one.”

Speel looked up and saw an old man with a warm smile

“For those who pay attention have many rewards you know.” said the man.

“Excuse me how much is this broad sword?” asked Speel

“Two gold pieces” said the man

“Two gold pieces? Really? You must be joking.” said Speel

” I do not joke, remember for those who pay attention there are rewards,” said the man,” nobody has come here ever since the king himself was here which was like fifty years ago.”

Speel looked at his pouch of gold and counted 20 gold pieces, he smiled. He had expected to get about a regular sword and that was it but looks like he was coming out well armored and armed

Chapter 6 : getting mentors

Speel crawled out of the armory with two serrated daggers that were made to be painful when pulling out, and a broad sword at his waist, strapped on his back was a straight sword that looked like it’s blade was a huge flame a orange color that looked liked it glowed on the inside and silver outer, on his left hand there was a round bronze shield, and his gloves looked the most interesting of all they were a crimson red color with a green gem that too glowed on each hand. With 10 gold pieces left he walked over to the contest and entered his name, then he entered a huge arena.

As Speel walked in, there was a line of men, each had a different sword strapped to their backs, there were many kids in line watching as the men observed them, Speel stood in line and was met with a blast of gasps from the kids especially from Garshin who was next to him.

“How did you get those weapons?” asked Garshin

“The man who I bought it from told me not to tell anyone where, but to tell them if you want to find him you must pay attention.” Speel smiled

“Come on you’ve got to tell me, I’m your best friend.” Garshin begged

“I can’t, I promised him.” said Speel regretting that he promised the man already

“Then at least can you tell me the straight sword’s name?” asked Garshin

Speel recalled what the man said and finally said “it’s name was TrueBlaze”

Garshin nodded and returned to his high-headed stance.

Speel stood straight and as noble as he could. Or at least he thought it was noble, but really it looked like just a regular straight mannered stand. The king gave a speech of welcome and said how proud he was to see young children want to stand up and so on, then the king did something that almost sent shivers down Speel’s spine, he hardened his face so that it looked so stern it was like each and every one of them was going to war right now untrained. Instead the king said that the men may began inspecting and for those who are not chosen are sent home. Speel realized the reason for this and he feared he had bought many things for nothing. They were getting mentors, if they weren’t chosen they wouldn’t be taught, if they don’t get taught then they don’t know how to fight with weapons, and if they don’t know how to fight they can’t go to war. Simple logic so they are sent home. A dark looking man looked down at Speel and said “I’ll take him.”

Chapter 7: the wizard’s assistant

Garshin looked straight forward, but as time passed by he began to worry there were only two mentors left, then just as the last mentor started to go pass him he stopped and said I’ll take him, “me?” Garshin thought but the boy next to him stepped out and said “I am honored sir.” And his heart dropped but then just as he thought there was no hope a deep old voice said,” I’ll take him” Garshin looked up and saw and old man. The king who had been watching nodded to his wizard and threw a sword at Garshin, without thinking he said, “coldronicules” and a blue symbol appeared blocking the sword from hitting Garshin. “Well done,” said the king “you’ve become my wizards apprentice and assistant.” “Congratulation…..” Garshin feinted out of extreme exhaustion that came like a snap of a finger, the last thing he saw were soldiers rushing to catch him as he fell, then there was darkness.

Chapter 8: training with Master Dirk

“I didn’t pick you because you have good looking weapons fancy pants” Master Dirk said, ”though they will serve you well in battle” Speel stared down at his feet as Master Dirk rambled on and on about how he was as low as any low life till he had honor in battles with victory. “SPEEL! Pay attention, lift your head up!” roared Master Dirk, Speel raised his head to look at Master Dirk. “Now let’s start your training before Theen and his gang of ugly thugs comes storming into the castle and yelling THIS CASTLE IS MINE! YOU LANDLUBBERS!”  Speel’s ears hurt of all Master Dirk’s fury fiery mouth. Master Dirk led him to the training room where most of the boys had already come and were sparring with each other as their masters took notes on how they were learning the taught technique. “First thing you are going to learn is how to spar with your sword.” So he followed his master to a sparring arena. Master Dirk showed him how to parry and worked him till he had reflexes that caught ninety nine point nine percent of all sword attacks, and then he worked on his sword swing style and his feints so that they were more used to carrying something so heavy. He was blocking and attacking when Dirk suddenly stopped “you are done for today.” He said Speel returned to his new bedroom  which was nicely made and comfortable to be in. Speel went into his washtub which was already filled with water and hot by a maid who happened to be a young girl whose father was poor and she came here to work so that she and her father had enough money to live on, he felt sorry for the girl and gave her a 5 gold coin tip, which she thanked him for and left. He relaxed in his bin then started to wash his skin steadily. After washing Speel changed into his night clothes and relaxed into his bed.

Chapter 9: The dawn skirmish

Garshin woke up with a start to find himself in a place full of potions for strength, size, speed, and etc. then he looked around and saw the old wizard who was taking notes on his studies.

“Where am I?” Garshin asked                                                                                                                                                                        “Ah, you’re awake!” the wizard turned to him with a warm smile,” Coldron eh? So that’s the prefix for a more powerful shield.”                                                                                                                                                                   “What are you talking about?”said Garshin                                                                                                                                                                                               “You have helped us discover a new power, there are different prefixes that change the amount of power you use to make the spell and how powerful it is. The basic spells are just the word without the prefix, like nicules, gred, homunus, and berneses. These stands for different things that you will soon learn as you are my apprentice.” said the wizard                                                                                                                                                    “I am a wizard apprentice?!” said a suddenly jumpy Garshin, The wizard nodded.” You’re saying I could turn people into frogs or make mystical swords?” again the wizard nodded. “ This is going to be awesome!” The wizard smiled a warm smile but had a sad look in his eyes.

Suddenly there was a large CLANG! The wizard quickly peered through the window and then pulled the curtains over it, then he quickly grabbed Garshin with a surprising strength and jumped through a wall.

“What happened” asked Garshin in a panicky voice                                                                                                       “Pirates are pouring into the village, the defense has been breached, we must stay in this hidden trap -door until this is over.” Answered the wizard

Chapter 10: First Battle

“Ok Speel I have your first assignment” said Dirk

“REALLY? So soon? OK!” exclaimed Speel

“I warn you though your first assignment might be your last.” Said Dirk darkly “your assignment is to defend local leaders, your teammates are Turk, Lana, and Sho Mei, you are to team up with them and defend the leaders who have gathered at the West side town exit of Grockle. I believe is your hometown right”

“Oh god you mean the pirates have almost reached mother?!?”

“I’m afraid so Speel and you have all the rights to rescue your mother as well but the local leaders first because without them all the people will lose hope and give up and turn on each other.”

“I understand Master” said Speel not very convincingly and he raced out of the palace with his gear on.

Speel had just finished rounding up the local leaders when a explosion came from one of the houses a pirate stepped out of the house followed by many others, He was big and fat with a huge nose that had a pirate skull tattoo, he grinned wickedly.

“So that’s where the leaders are heh? With their little escort party IM SO SCARED BWAHAHAHAHA! NOT!!! Remember my name for it will be the last one you learn of BWAHAHAHA!!! I’m Smarsch and I will cut your bloody throats and shred you to pieces and spread your bodies all through town!!! BWAHAHAHA!!!” said the pirate as he charged

A beautiful Asian girl flipped up ahead with twin daggers and cleanly sliced off a pirates head as she landed, she was so graceful, Speel couldn’t take his eyes off of her, she seemed to make the job seem good not bloody and bad. “She must be Sho Mei” Speel thought dreamily. Then a guy with red hair (Turk) and a X on his cheek ran towards the pirates and swung his axe and cleanly sliced five pirates in half across the torso. Some hesitated afterwards but still they came on and rushed forward, one of the pirates came at Turk and brought his scimitar on Turk but the pirate was shot in the head with a arrow straight and true from a girl with long blond hair she held a pink bow.(Lana)

“Do something rookie!” said Lana

Speel snapped out of his trance at watching his comrades fight and pulled out his broadsword and charged he blocked, parried, and attacked trying to get the pirates but he managed to only get the ones who were already wounded. He turned around and realized he was far away from the group, but then something caught his eye, Smarsch their leader creeping towards Lana in the midst of the battle with a dagger in his hand. Speel crept behind Smarsch slowly so not to alarm him, then Smarsch made his move and grabbed Lana from behind and he said “Nobody move! I’ve got the girl HAHA!” Sho Mei and Turk froze but their eyes relaxed as the saw Speel creep up behind Smarsch

“That’s right I’m going to take Lana and have a little fun with her then slay all those villagers and you’ll never see her again BWAHAHA!!!” Said Smarsch “and I’ll start by giving her a little kiss right guys?”

The pirates roared in laughter as he tried to kiss Lana but then Speel finally got to Smarsch and stabbed him from behind. He and the pirates froze; Smarsch’s face went white with shock as he fell to the floor dead. The pirates all stood there and dropped their weapons, and then Turk and Sho Mei set to tying them all up.

“You all right Lana?” Speel asked

“I’m ok” Lana said, she blushed and looked away

Speel left the group to find his mother, he searched in his house but he couldn’t find her, so he searched the town square where he found her along with ten other mothers hidden in a pub. She rushed to hug him and burst into tears when she reached him. Other mothers along with their children rushed to thank him gratifyingly for his service with the king then left. He never ever felt more at home.

Chapter 11: The Feast

In the great room of the palace Speel and his new friends Turk, Sho Mei, and Lana sat on red velvet cushioned chairs in one of the many long gold tables covered with food. There was fine wine, tea, roasted turkeys, roasted boar, and beef of all sorts, bowls of fruit, vegetables, and great large plates of bread. Knights, damsels, and the king himself feasted on them with absolute relish. Jugglers juggling flaming swords, Jokers telling riddles, and orchestras who played with great gusto entertained their guests. Then, the great room was suddenly silent as the king spoke, “Cheers to our new warriors, Lana (CHEER!!!), Turk (CHEER!!!),Sho Mei (CHEER!!!), and Speel (CHEER!!!). Now let us celebrate in honor of these new warriors. A roar of approval came from the crowd as they gobbled as much food as their bellies could handle. Speel chose a large turkey drumstick, some mutton, and a cup of tea and sat about wolfing his food then getting some more. Throughout the night drunken knights bragged about their fights and danced with their wives, while Speel walked to the balcony where he found Sho Mei watching the city, moonlight reflected off her skin giving her a glowing sheen of light, she looked like a goddess to Speel. It took his breath away for a moment then he continued to look at her, Then, she turned around and shyly said hello. It made him blush so he turned around walked away without a word.

Chapter 12: Dragon Prophecy

Garshin stumbled out of the secret lair with a fit of coughs, “Master you really need to clean that room!”

“Never have the time.” Grumbled the wizard “But with you maybe I can get it all tidy.”

“What!!! No way! Not in my lifetime old man!”

Furclusteromulus”

Garshin was suddenly stuck in a huge boulder that disabled all his body movement except for his neck and head

“That’ll teach you a lesson, never call me old man!”

“GRAAAGH!!! Sentoromulus you idiot!” said a voice from inside his mind

Sentoromulus!” said Garshin who was white with shock at the sudden awakening a voice inside his head.

Boom! The stone exploded sending chunks of rock flying everywhere, the wizard look surprised but quickly regained his composure but before he could do anything Garshin shouted another word from the voice in his head

Geoprocy!”

A moving image of a magnificent sleek black dragon with night gray armor that was far larger than that of a red dragon appeared, it had two magnificent horns that resembled that of a bull, the dragon held a bit in its mouth that led to a saddle on its back where a warrior with golden armor rode in front of its leathery wings. The one who bears the seven swords shall provide this land eternal peace. The wizard stared at the dragon with wonder then when the image disappeared he went and jotted down the notes quickly in a book titled: Prophecies
